In the course, I have created a Blogspot, Delicious and Flickr account and have learnt how to use them. I have also created a website and uploaded it into the webspace.

For the blogspot, I have posted stuff mainly of experiences and events that happen in my time, not too open and personal of course. These posts would either be a memory of mine, something that has recently happened, my opinions on something, what games I'm addicted to  and what I went through for my body of work. I have also followed Wolly's Blog, who is creating a game called Cube world. I do like how I can keep easy track on the production of his game and how he's going.

For Delicious, I have created a stack of personal websites and followed a particular stack on vintage advertisements as I do love that type of art style. I have learnt how to create and follow stacks.

In my Flickr account, I have uploaded several scans of the pages in my visual arts diary and several photos from my trip to philippines. I have also joined the groups 'LEGO' and 'Toys.'

My html website is about the work and process I did for my body of work. I linked up five pages together, and placed up pictures in tables. These images would then lead to another page, enlarging the photo to it's original size to allow people to see how specific works too like. I haev uploaded the website onto the webspace. I have learnt how to create tables, link images to another page and using a CSS file to change the style of my website.

EVE Online

EVE Online is a Online Game set in a sc-fi world. The game is pretty much a tool for player to use to do pretty much anything whether it be pirating, misions, selling/buying to make a profit, manufacturing, exploring and a whole lot more.

I am currently addicted to it because I finally have a grasp of what do to, what I can do and how to do it. Before,  and which is currently still an issue, is that EVE has by far the largest learning cliff. There's a whole lot of windows, buttons and complex systems in the game, from improving skills, using the market, what ship to use, what fitting are suitale for your ship, getting around, insuring your ship, insuring yourself and a lot lot of stuff. it's overwhelming.

What do I do in EVE?
I have my main which his skills are spread widely across mining, exploring and is currently training in combat because I just couldn't make a decision of what to do. But I have decided I am gonna be a combat mission runner and an explorer on the side. The character uses Amarr ships, I plan to train up for a battleship which I believe is called Abaddon.

I have another character who I recently created and i training into mining and planetary interaction. Mining is pretty straight forward, I go to an asteroid belt, and mindlessly mine the rocks out of it. Planetary interaction is the production of goods that used to only be bought and sold by NPC. I pretty much harvest the resources off the planet, produce a product, and sell it on the market.

I'ma Gamer!!!

I am a gamer who loves any type of genre; real time strategy, first person shooter, third person shooter, top down shooter, racing, role playing game, online games, adventure, arcade... the whole lot. I am a gamer who enjoys satisfaction through any form, whether it be profits, blow stuff up, getting a rare item or earning an achievement. Realistic graphics isn't something I look forward to games because I see it more of an art style, just like arcade games like the old dungeons crawlers or Terraria, and the cartoon style like Torchlight and Team Fortress 2.

A couple months back, me and my friends Nathan, Joseph and sometimes daniel would go onto our computer and have a multiplayer game. We mostly play (ultra nerd title) Supreme Commander 2. It is a RTS game where the goal is to build a base and army to destroy your opponents base and army. We always team up against 1 AI that we think we would lose against. WHY!? Because we like our bases getting crippled, if it wasn't, we would have an indestructible force which would be very boring.
Like on our first match against a hard AI, I was first in line to encounter it because the way the map was set up was it had to go through each one of us if using a land force in which he was, then Joseph, then Nathan at the far end. As soon as I got over run, I retreated to Nathan's and help him reinforce his base. This match was fun because it was challenging and there was a sense of fear of completely losing.

As our gaming matches continued over the several weeks, some would creep into the early morning on the next day, turning our minds. Many interesting events have happened. One of them, I turned into a song. First you must know a bit of the game, in order to build a base, there is a unit called the engineer which builds buildings, increases production of units and heals them. okay! now you can understand my story, what happened is in the middle of the match, Daniel stated "Engy, why are you so small?" Because these units are quite small once you have a base and army up. I then broke into song with those exactly words... "Engy... Why are you so smaaaall, Engy, oh Engy... Why are you so smaall" and realising that it could be a pain to find the engy so I scream at one point "ENGY!!!" The singing went for an hour or so. It was quite humorous.
My friend Nathan has recently discovered a new way to insult, which was "Ass clown." It makes no sense, it's funny and somehow the word ass and clown seems to have fused.

When we're feeling a bit... bored or fighting an AI, we unexpectedly launch a nuke to each other's base... whilst being on the same team =)

Enough about the Supreme Commander stories! Time to move on! As we will be moving away from Supreme Commander and onto Torchlight 2 and Guild Wars 2! We cannot wait till' these release, we believe it's gonna be memorial and one epic journey of greatness, laughter, and plain stupidity. I believe my friend Nathan is going to be an elementalist as he loves the ranged brute power of flashiness, I aim to be a Guardian and keep the buffs on my team... or not and watch the whole team fail... LEEROY!!!

HTML Website

Hey,

I have created my HTML website about the work I have done for my body of work during the Higher School Certificate for Visual Arts.

The website is broken into 5 pages. The home page which is an introduction to what my website is about. The About page is a brief explanation myself. Process is a small presentation of my initial ideas, what went through my mind, and the last thoughts towards the project. The Gallery shows off a few scanned images from my visual arts diary in the form of a table, and the links page is where people can navigate to my Blogspot, Flickr and Delicious page.

Whilst creating this website, I have learned how to create tables, insert images, create and maintain a CSS file and using it to change the font style, size and colour of specific text such as Header 1, Header 2 and Paragraph, changing the colour of the background, laying out the website using certain tags, link to other pages and websites and how to add a hit counter onto the website.

The things I have learned are how to separate different contents using the <DIV> tag, I used this for the images on the home page and the about page.  Adding a link to the images that are in the gallery that directs to a new page of the selected picture enlarged. I have also learned how to add a hit counter onto my website and how to use the CSS file to customise the look of my website.

Assessment Blog Post #1

It's submission time!
What have I done in this subject for the past 6 weeks? Well...
I have learnt how to use Blogspot, Flicr and Delicious and their purpose.

Blogspot has been quite fun to use. Being able to have full customisation over your page's appearance such as the background, style, layout of where things go, the font style and colour, able to easily upload pictures, create pages and follow and comment on other people's blogs. I definitely love the "preview" option before actually posting up a comment or a new post, very handy. I have commented on other people's post and have found some interesting anime to look forward to, added and re-arranged my gadgets. I was able to post up a poll about whether if people believe in healthy yelling or not, and setting my fishes on the top as my blog guardians.




Flickr is quite interesting. I have uploaded a few pictures of my drawings and from my visit of Philippines. I also have joined two awesome groups. A Lego group and a toy group! yes... I love toys, I still wish to have a Tonka one day. I have favourited a collectible toy of Edna from the Pixar movie The Incredibles.I created a new set for the Philippine photos. I liked it as it was quite fast and easy to add a description and titles.


Delicious is quite nice. Being able to bookmark websites. I have created a new stack consisting of the websites I constantly go to every so often, such as Deviant Art, CG Hub, Kid Robot and a few more.

Steam

Steam, oh how I'm grateful for thee.
Created by Valve, who has a developed the Counter Strike series, team Fortress 2 and Portal 1 and 2, they have support PC gaming immensely.

I am always on steam, whether I'm gaming or not, it's easy to manage my games, shop for games and not to mention the massive sales they have it's sometimes ridiculous! The feature I love is you can add friends to chat whilst playing a game simply just by the two magical buttons shift + tab, which brings up a steam overlay that doesn't interrupt your game, which enables to surf the internet. And inviting friends into games for a multiplayer (is not a word) match is the easiest thing to do!

I'm impressed, they have served over 780 petabytes... for gaming... that is too awesome! Here's some info on steam!

The night before...

*flash back accompanied by an ease into uncontrollable blur and and growing blinding light transitioning to an old film effect and monotone colours*

*Voice over enters*

It was the night before my Body of Work for the, oh, so dramatic Higher School Certificate. The silence of the night screamed in stress and restlessness, the lamp glowing a golden atmosphere of heat, my goal was to create 3 more portraits by 8:00am the next morning.

I loved Visual Arts, I had true dedication that I did not sleep that night. Creating the subtle overall shade was a long process. There were two ways I could accomplish such a smooth texture:

 1. Where there was deep shadow, I applied a heavy thick line of charcoal directly onto the stone henge paper, then using the blending tool to spread it to the middle as a filling, slowly creating a nice blend between the hard shadows and light shade.  

2. Apply charcoal onto the blending tool and using it to fill in the centres that the dark shade could not reach.

This was a long process as it took ridiculous amounts of times to apply the charcoal onto the tool and as well as getting an even tone through out the drawing.

How did I keep my self alive!?

Through music, snacks and love for Visual Arts. 

My arsenal consisted of a bottles of water, chips, biscuits, water, and a wide selection of music like Beautiful Soul by Jesse McCartney.

This photo is taken between 1:00 - 3:00am, I am restless! My shoulder blades and the back of my neck where at the brink of shattering due to the oblivious nature of slouching over the table to get the glorious detail and balance. This was my break, I don't remember how long it went for but I felt amazing!

Few hours later, I have finally finished the drawings and fixing the ones that needed attention and repairs. I packed up everything into a large make shift folder (Large white square paper on bed) to get ready to take and bring it to school. If I had forgotten anything, I could literally just run back home since it is simply across the street of one of the school's entrances. Honestly. hm... Starting to think I'm building a good history of places I've lived.

And so I'm here, in front of a computer, living in a unit on top of an adult shop, with a walk cycle due in 2 days and making this post for an assessment due in 3 days. Simply beautifully Grand.

Cereal Nerf Gun Situation...

The past few days have been quite interesting...

Through our (me and my roommates) great journey amongst the uni life, we have recently obtained Nerf guns in order to entertain ourselves whilst we struggle to feel any form of satisfaction as we study and/or do our assignments. It was a wise and glorious decision as we have fought against each other, picked on a single person at times, betray one another and also have decided to end all disputes with a showdown.

Apart from the violence and horrific injuries some of us have endured caused by the Nerf guns, I woke up one morning, only to find out the Fruit Loops cereal packaging found within the cereal box was cut with scissors. With great energy, I marched up the hall way shouting "WHAT IS THIS MADNESS!?" at around 8:30 in the morning... I felt victorious... I don't know why, but I did. The one responsible had a face of "I cannot believe you" whilst my other roommate did nothing but join me and my argument against the use of scissors to open the cereal packaging. Once all unbelievability was gone from both parties, I continued to the creation of my breakfast.

HELLOOOO!!! =D

So... what to say... introduction! My name is Delwin Dale Atienza, I am a first year student in university who has moved away from home to study and experience the largest flood in over a 100 years in Wagga which was a nice and warm welcoming gift (that story later). I am currently studying a Bachelor of Arts in Animation and Visual Effects in which I am enjoying immensely... I do hope that is the write word. but yes, it is grand, the experiences of independence, financial managing of the poor uni student... ability to scream around the house, annoy roommates, devouring through the lack supply of snacks... the independent life is brilliant. ^.^

The FLOOD was an interesting experience. Woke up in the morning roughly around 8, aware of the evacuation clues of our area such as the radio clearly stating and the empty streets, still didn't evacuate till noon when someone came up to our door that we needed to evacuate. SO, we finally packed our stuff and headed out, with no clue where to go and how to get there. Luckily we found a police officer who drove us to the comfort of Mount Austin High School and spent 1 night. We got back to our humble home through a teacher who was kind enough to drive us back.

So many stuff has happened in the last... 4 weeks since we've moved in... and so many thing will happen in the not so distant future of our time.

OH! I also live on top of an adult shop... thought that might be interesting to post up. =)
